이 모든 일은 ABC13이 사우스웨스트 승객들이 비행기가 아닌 버스로 호비에 도착하는 것을 보았기 때문에 알게 되었다. 

밤사이 뉴욕 라과디아 공항에서 버스 한 대가 24시간을 달려 호비 공항에 도착한 것이다.

52명의 승객을 태운 또 다른 버스는 덴버에서 16시간을 달려 수요일 새벽 5시쯤 도착했다. 

덴버에서 21시간 동안 차를 몰고 온 에릭 밀러는 "우리는 화장실에 들리고, 음식도 먹었으며, 여행객들을 편안하게 하기 위해 할 수 있는 모든 것을 했다"고 말했다.

 

"그들은 영수증을 보관하라고 말한다. 무슨 영수증을 보관해야 하나? 나는 5일 동안 잠을 자지도 못했는데 어떻게 돈을 돌려받을 수 있을까요? 그리고 나는 여전히 집에 도착하지 못했다."라고 한 승객이 말했다.
그레이스 로즈는 워싱턴 D.C.에서 4일간 여행이 지연된 후 마침내 가족들과 재회했다.

Southwest Airlines trying to keep passengers moving, so charter buses are now being used

 

 

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Amid the hundreds of Southwest flight cancellations, frustrations are mounting for stranded travelers who are demanding they be paid, and they're not the only ones. Federal officials say they should be reimbursed as well.

 

More than 2,500 Southwest flights were canceled nationwide as of Wednesday morning, according to flight tracker Flight Aware. There are 150 inbound and outbound Southwest flights canceled on Wednesday at Hobby. There's also still a massive backlog of luggage.

 

Many passengers are stranded in other cities while their luggage is sitting at Hobby. Southwest said it is trying to do what it can to keep passengers moving, so charter buses are now being used.

This is all happening as ABC13 saw Southwest passengers arriving to Hobby not by plane, but by bus. Overnight, one bus drove 24 hours from La Guardia Airport in New York and arrived at Hobby Airport.

 

"It was so hard and in spite of it, Southwest looked out for us to get a bus to come here," one of the passengers onboard the bus said.

Another bus carrying 52 passengers drove 16 hours from Denver and arrived at about 5 a.m. Wednesday.

"We took bathroom breaks, got food, did what we could to make them comfortable," Eric Miller, who drove 21 hours from Denver, said.

 

"They say keep your receipts. What receipts? I've been sleep deprived for five days and expect me to figure out how to get some money back? And I'm still not home," one frustrated passenger said.

In the midst of all the frustration, there was a glimmer of hope for one woman. Grace Rose reunited with her excited family - dressed in onesies - after a four-day delay in Washington, D.C.

 

"I got a call this morning from my mom saying we could possibly get a standby (Wednesday) morning out of Reagan. So took a shot and here we are," Rose said.

Southwest Airlines promised to reimburse passengers for some expenses they may have incurred during the chaos of the last several days. If you had to book a hotel room, rent a car, or buy food, save your receipts.

In order to qualify, your Southwest flight must have been canceled or delayed between Dec. 24 and Jan. 2, 2023. You can submit those receipts on the Southwest Airlines website.

Expect a wait to get your refunds due to the volume of reimbursements that will be submitted.
